Let your puppy explore the surrounding of the car. Whenever he comes near or gets inside, reward him with praise and treat. You must also reward him if he sits or lays down when commanded. As soon as your young pup gets into the vehicle freely, give a lot of praise and something truly rewarding.

Move to next step and that’s to start the engine. If he stays comfortable, drive to a short distance and stopping from time to time to praise and give him treats. You can also let him out of the car and play as long as he has his collar and leash on and has completed necessary vaccines. After 10 to 20 minutes of playing, you may opt to walk back home in order to avoid him from associating the car with the end of playtime.

Gradually increase the distance of your destination every time you go out. During your dog training sessions, make sure that your own and your dog’s safety is on top of the list. There are safety devices like harness and crate you can utilize to be sure that your dog is safe should any sort of accident crop up. You also have to remember not to let your dog stick his head of the window neither leave him alone in the car.

Praise and reward him if he stays for a couple of seconds. Gently increase the time of him staying in the position as well as the distance between you and your dog.

Practicing the command anytime of the day is recommended.
