What’s the best treat to give my dog during training?
I have a 12 week old female english bull terrier and we’re trying to get a head start by training her at home. She’s enrolled in a wonderful private dog training facility but she doesn’t start until she’s 16wo. She’s very food motivated but I feed her high quality dog food (taste of the wild bison), and I don’t want to just give her any old treat.
What are some brand names of high quality treats that are easy to give to puppies when training?
TIA
You need something that is small and low in calories. Also, if you are using them during obedience class you should get something that is soft so that your dog can eat it quicker. I can’t recall the brand, but I found some all natural liver and cranberry treats at Petsmart and my dog loved them. I think they were only 1 calorie each.
Bark Busters Home Dog Training on Good Day Houston
I have a JRT mix who is about 2 years old. She is like most JRTs–smart, active and energetic but without good exercise and activities to keep her mind active her energy can become negative. I’m interested in any games people play with their dogs (or toys you buy) to challenge her. I am not interested in agility or training classes, more like games we/she can play around the house. Simply playing fetch bores her, she needs a challenge. For example, she enjoys when I put her toys somewhere hard to reach. The other day I put her ball on top of her large wire crate out of reach. Of course it only took her about 3 min to figure out how to go inside her crate and push the ball to the edge of the crate using her paws. She looked so proud of herself when she was done! Are there any other ideas or books anyone knows of?
How about some at-home agility obstacles just for fun? They make stick-in the ground obstacles for your yard, or have pop-up ones for inside, too. Or you can make some obstacles o fyour own out of PVC pipe. It really is a great sport- my Min Pin and I participate, even though I don’t plan on every competing with him- it’s just a fun thing to do, for them and you. You don’t need classes if you are just using it to have fun with your dog, just set up a few obstacles and start teaching her!
Other things to think about are hiding her meals, and interactive toys. My dogs both love one called the IQube- it’s a big fabric cube stuffed with squeaky balls they have to learn to take out.
Dog Training Can Turn Any Dog Into an Amazing Dog, if it is Done Correctly
Many people endure the unfortunate experience of having a “terrible” dog and usually the reasons why their dog acts this way is because they were not properly trained by their owner. So, it is not the dogs fault that they do not have any kind of manners and do not understand anyone’s commands, it is the owners responsibility to take care of this and to teach them what is expected of them. By going through many different sources you should have the ability to locate plenty of information regarding dog training and what works and what does not work. If you can find this kind of helpful information, no matter what kind of dog that you own, he can definitely turn out to be one of the greatest dogs around. You will be more than happy with the results, from applying wonderful dog training skills to your dog and really giving it all that you got. Dog training can turn any dog into an amazing dog, if it is done correctly.
It is really important that you learn how to get your dog to listen to your command, to understand your tone each time that you are going through just the basic commands. Start out with something little and if they respond quickly then feel free to continue on to something a little bit more advanced. If you take time out to spend with your dog, getting to know them and figuring out what makes them tick, you will begin seeing some awesome results fairly quickly believe it or not. This will not happen without some dedication and determination on your part and ofcourse a whole lot of patience! It does not matter if it is a pure breed or just an old mutt, your dog is very capable of learning and becoming a well behaved, well trained dog, an amazing dog at that. Just give it a good shot, you will soon see that your hard work and patience has paid off at the end of it all.
Whatever you do throughout the dog training process, never, under any circumstances do you ever cause bodily harm to your animal, no matter how frustrated and irritated you might become at times. The tone of your voice says it all, when it comes to getting your dog to listen to your commands, so know which tone to use for each thing you are wanting them to understand. Once you have completed just the basic dog training commands with your dog, you and everyone else around will definitely notice an enormous difference in them and will be very, very pleased by it. Rewarding your dog is so very important, so anytime that they do listen to something that you are trying to say to them, make sure that you do give them a treat or something. They love praise and ofcourse they always love those delicious treats that their owner offers to them when they are so proud because they did good.
